Chasing Golden Hour: The Ride That Reminded Me to Slow Down

Chasing Golden Hour: The Ride That Reminded Me to Slow Down

October 22, 2026

It had been one of those weeks.

Too many meetings. Too many notifications. Too many things demanding my attention.

By Friday evening, all I wanted was a little quiet.

So I grabbed my helmet, rolled my bike out of the garage, and started riding.

No route planned. No destination in mind.

Following the Light

The sun was beginning to set when I reached the trail.

Everything had that warm, golden glow that makes even familiar places look extraordinary.

I passed a couple walking their dog, a group of kids playing basketball, and a fisherman packing up for the evening.

For once, I wasn't thinking about my to-do list.

I was simply enjoying the ride.

A Moment to Remember

A few miles later, I reached a small lake.

The water was perfectly still, reflecting the orange and pink sky above it.

I stopped, leaned my bike against a wooden railing, and sat on a nearby bench.

There was nothing particularly dramatic about the moment.

But it was exactly what I needed.

Making Room for the Simple Things

I stayed until the sun slipped below the trees, then headed home along the quiet streets.

The entire ride had taken less than an hour.

It didn't solve every problem waiting for me on Monday morning. But it gave me a little space to think, breathe, and appreciate the world around me.

Sometimes, that's all an adventure needs to be.

A bicycle, an open trail, and enough time to watch the sunset.
